Ros Rixon – Love Is…

12.04.12 - 13.05.12

The pieces featured here are amongst a series of glass scultpures to be contributed by Ros Rixon for this special exhibition to raise awareness and funds for the British Heart Foundation’s Mending Broken Hearts campaign. Ros Rixon began working with text and books at University while trying to get to grips with the meaning of art. Over a period of time, the books began to take over her workspace and the words began to take over her walls until she reached the point where the information around her evolved into the art itself when she created her first sculptures incorporating text into glass forms.

“In the midst of research I suddenly found the information around me was evolving into the art. There were times when I wished I could just create something purely for creativity alone, but the words had taken hold”.

Rixon works with hand-blown lead crystal spheres and bottles which she has made to order for her pieces, many of which are unique. She then fills the spheres or bottles with text pain-painstakingly cut from vintage copies of books and manuscripts.

Heartbreak is delighted to be featuring works by Ros Rixon in this exhibition. For more information about Ros Rixon’s work and to register your interest, please contact us.
